Mechatronics and automation

Edited by Peter Hehenberger

Scope: This section covers the synergistic integration of diverse disciplines across mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, information technology and systems thinking, towards the design of components and overall systems, e.g. machines and their related production processes. It considers research works that bridge the gap between theory, computation and practice, including topics on robotics and advanced mechanisms, systems modelling, sensing and control, autonomous and complex systems, instrumentation and more. In accordance with current trends (e.g. Industry 4.0, Cyber Physical Systems CPS, Advanced Manufacturing, Digital Factory), the mechatronic systems themselves are undergoing mutations. State of the art approaches including AI and machine learning based systems, as well as emerging technologies for real world applications are encouraged.
